Montgomery Hungarian Friendship Day 2025
On Saturday 17th May, join our friends the Dunavon folk dancers to have a go at some Hungarian folk dancing! Workshops at 11.15am and 2.15pm, suitable for all ages and abilities. Upstairs at the Town Hall. Refreshments available downstairs, or get a drink from the Dragon bar and bring it over.
The Dunavon Hungarian Folk Dance Ensemble was formed in 2019 in Bristol. The name blends together the Duna (the Hungarian name of the Danube), and the River Avon flowing through Bristol. A symbol of unity, a river transcends borders connecting the shared heritage of diverse communities along its banks.
We are proud to have performed on numerous occasions throughout the country and we welcome invitations to bring Hungarian folk dances to communities in the form of performances. Our repertoire includes dances from the Szatmar, Moldva, Szilagysági, Rimóc and Kazár regions.
The ensemble recently turned 5 years old celebrated this milestone with a spectacular gala performance, attended by Montgomery’s Mayor, that showcased their achievements over the years. With multiple successful performances, the group is constantly growing, and regularly organises the folkdance house (táncház) in Bristol which is greatly enjoyed by all participants.
