The Embassy of Hungary (London) will host the Future of Hungarian Medical Professionals in the UK event on May 11th (Saturday), between 09:30-18:00.

The aim of the event is to facilitate a discussion about challenges that members of the Hungarian medical professional diaspora (students, practitioners and researchers of medical sciences) face in the UK and to find opportunities to foster Hungarian-British medical sector relationships.

The program (draft):

We already have 24 experts who will give presentations and participate in panel discussions.

Opening remaks will be given by H.E. Szalay-Bobrovniczky Kristóf

Keynote: Professor Ildikó Horváth, Hungarian state secretary responsible for healthcare, has confirmed that she’ll give a keynote speech.

Brexit- Hungarian medical professionals in the UK:We’ll have a timely session on practical issues regarding practicing in the UK and on the foreseeable changes due to the UK leaving the European Union. Speakers from the British Medical Association (BMA), Medical Defence Union (MDU), Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), Council of Deans of Health (COD)-tbc will share their thoughts on what’s ahead of us and how will changes affect medical professionals.

Cross border learning opportunities:Studying abroad and collaborating with foreign researchers are integral parts of medical education and research. Our Hungarian and British speakers from Semmelweis University, University of Debrecen and University of Pécs, Universities UK (UUK)-tbc, Hungarian and UK medical student associations will discuss the opportunities Hungarian universities can offer.

Practicing professionals from Cambridge University Hospital, University of Liverpool, Central Manchester University will share their experience on cross border know how transfer between the UK and Hungary.

Medical professional sessions: paediatric, transplant and orthopaedic surgeons; rheumatology, cardiology and clinical psychology experts will give presentations on new methods and practices.

Healthcare management session: Experts from the Hungarian Medical Association (HMA)-UK, University College London (UCL), NICE will explain similarities and differences in British and Hungarian healthcare and hospital management.

Final program will be circulated 2 weeks before the event.

Networking:

The Embassy of Hungary hosts the event. Throughout the day and at the closing reception there will be plenty of networking oportunities.

  • Costs: The event is free of charge. Participation (travel, accomodation, etc) self funded.
